SUNDAY HIKE WITH ARCTERYX

Densely populated islands, a closely located archipelago. Suburbs that stretch out in all directions, interspersed with lakes. Woodlands in between. It’s easy to find spots for solace, movement and immersification with nature in Stockholm. Almost always easily accessible by subway, train, and buss.

KA-YO Staff & Friends went for a Sunday Hike in a season transitioning from spring to summer - a time notorious for varying temperatures but also for a heightened appreciation for sun and warmth. Arc’teryx kitted us with gear that ticked all our boxes for this tricky time of the year.

“Smultronställe” [Wild strawberry spot - a favorite spot, beautiful, not seldom a bit of a secret]

With easy access to varying terrains through various means - it’s difficult not to gather a list of favorite spots - and to both keep them slightly secret and sharing them with the people you like. The best place for a late night dip; a spot with a killer view; places literally filled with wild strawberries. If you take on the outdoors with some enthusiasm, they’ll come to you soon enough.

To make the best of this Sunday excursion, the aforementioned Wild Strawberry Spots will certainly help - but just heading out in one direction will more than suffice (this time we headed out by subway followed by buss and short walk). Rather, some importance should be made to the gear. Bringing along light and packable layers that fit into comfortable bags is key.

We loved the light vests, jackets and pants from Arc’teryx. “They had a super comfortable fit, not restricting movement in any way. We didn’t have any rain near but having light layers that provided full coverage with tight cuffs, hood and gore-tex outers - it makes you feel ready to tackle anything the season might throw at you. Honestly, we’re never super far from going back to snow at this time of year…”

The shoes were also superb. Warm while still well-ventilated. Good grip, protection from the elements. Stabile - we could go for many more hours. Being this well-equipped we’re looking forward to many more day trips - there’s more beautiful scenery to explore and enjoy.
